Hop on Pop
Hop on Pop
by Dr Seuss

First published in 1963, "Hop on Pop" remains a perennial favourite when it comes to teaching kids to read.   The illustrations here are wild and wonderful, and the accompanying language, while simple, is delightfully silly.  We have chosen this book for the Orange section because it uses short, simple words which a child should be used to blending easily together with short words using digraphs which represent sounds not usually written as a single letter.   Most important, it adds fun to learning to read.
