Punch & Judy Book Club - reviews of our favourite books every month by Reading Shop staff

Lynn Loves:  "Library Lion" by Michelle Knudsen.   This is one of the best beginnings to a story!   A lion walks into the library, pads around, sniffing his way then settles down in the story corner.   At first, he breaks the rules by roaring, but soon learns to be quiet and make himself useful while waiting for story time...until one day he has to roar very loudly, then has to leave because he has broken the rules.   A surefire hit for young readers, with the message that, sometimes, there are very good reasons for breaking rules.

Rachel Recommends:   "Hoppity Hop Bunny"   Hoppity Hop Bunny has hopped off, but where has he gone?  Is he behind the windmills?  PEEKABOO!!  No, that's not Hoppity Hop Bunny.   Babies and toddlers will love this latest Peekaboo book which is filled with fun and colourful images and touchy feely segments.   This book was recommended to me by my one-year-old niece who loves her Peekaboo books.  Lift the large and solid flaps and feel the different textures on each page as you and your child search for Hoppity Hop Bunny.

Sue suggests our own Holiday Pack, exclusive to The Reading Shop, to keep your children entertained on journeys.

Long journeys never seem like fun with young children, whether you’re traveling by car, bus, train, airplane or boat you always need great ideas to keep them entertained.

Likewise, if you’re fortunate enough to be going away, whether abroad, in Britain or just staying at home, there are always wet days or ‘I’m bored’ days!

The Holiday Pack has Activity Cards, an Activity or Sticker Book and a Spotter’s Guide all contained in a reusable wallet for just £12.99 – we’ve even included a pencil and colouring pencils!
